Andi M3 E30 V8 S62

  Hallo BMW E30 Fans,

ich möchte Euch nach meinem V12 Cabrio nun mein aktuelles Projekt vorstellen. Der V12 könnte trotz 420 Prüfstands PS nicht restlos begeistern. Eine Mitfahrt mit Tino Cabrio (V8 4.0) brachte sehr schnell Ernüchterung. Sicher war der V12 letztlich schneller, aber dem Druck im unteren Bereich und dem breiten nutzbaren Drehzahlband hatte der V12 nur ein vergleichweise kleinen heftigen Bereich im oberen Drehzahlband entgegenzusetzen.

M3 E30 V10 E60 M5

 Herbert Hubbauer hat bewiesen, dass nicht nur die BMW Tuning Freunde von Übersee oder unsere skandinavischen Nachbarn einen M3 E30 V10 bauen können. Allerdings verbaute Herbert nicht nur einen S85 V10 Motor aus dem E60 M5 mit satten 507 PS, das Fahrzeug wurde komplett neu auf Basis einer sehr gut erhaltenen Rohkarosserie aufgebaut. Alle Teile inkl. Schrauben und Schellen wurden bei BMW neu gekauft. Allerdings sollte nicht nur ein V10 im M3 E30 zum Laufen gebracht werden, dieser M3 E30 V10 sollte besser werden als die beiden anderen bekannten Fahrzeuge aus Schweden und Amerika. Für Herbert bedeutete dies, dass Servo, BKV sowie eine alltagstaugliche Motorsteuerung installiert werden müssen.

S85 (E60 M5 V10) swap into E46 M3 with Pectel SQ6M ECU and and Cosworth dash

The S85 motor really deserves more love. Projects like this remind us that if BMW wanted to, they could have shoved that V10 in the M3 and abused almost any of their competition. But BMW didn’t, so we are thankful for enthusiasts who are willing to step up to the plate. M5 E39 2JZ-GTE


I would like to take this opportunity to share with the M5 community my recently finished motor swap project. I’ve had the M5 since late-2007 and enjoyed the stock S62 a great deal. While the power and torque were also great, it just wasn’t enough for me. Supercharging the beast was certainly an option, but a very costly one. With my friend’s shop, E-Shift Performance out in central NJ, having converted numerous cars with 2JZ-GTE motors from the Toyota Supra, we hatched the idea of the BMW M5-supra project.

I’ve seen an earlier thread with a fellow board member posting two pictures of my car from the Hot Import Nights event from Englishtown, NJ. I never replied to the thread given that the car wasn’t fully completed at that point. The polarized responses were exactly the way I expected.

Many have asked, why an M5 instead of a regular 5-series? I already own the M5. I do not enjoy the hassles and time of selling a car and looking for another car. Buying a new car would also involve other costs such as sales tax, registration, inspection, etc. I also would have to spend money for the m-tech bumpers, mirrors (I don’t like the square look of the regular 5-series) and alcantara interior. Last but not least, I would want the M5 differential. These costs add up, so why not embark on the project with the car I already own.

JohanZ — BMW M3 E30 V10

   Tanken har varit att hålla projektet hemligt tills byggnationen var klar, men då det börjat sippra ut lite här och där är det lika bra att skapa en tråd.

Bakgrunden till detta projekt är att min polare och kollega Mats Ivarson här på forumet ”lurade” på mig en testkörning av hans Volvo 242 16V turbo (boost) sommaren 2007 på Gatebil Rudskogen (han behövde inte tjata länge). Vi deltog bl.a i ”Extremelöpet” och för min del var jag fast i motorsporträsket igen, jag var tvungen att skaffa mig en egen bil.

Bilen köptes hösten 2007 och vintern 07/08 ägnades åt karossuppfräschning och lackering.

Kinetechnik Motorsport swaps an S85 V10 into an E46 M3 using factory DME

Seems like these swaps are becoming more and more prevalent, eh? The difference now is in the quality of the swaps and this one would certainly qualify as quality. The S85 fits in the engine bay with no issues but the main thing is that the factory ECU is used. This means when a GT1 tool (BMW Group Tester One diagnostic and programming tool) is connected it reads the car as an E60 M5. No dyno numbers or further details from Kinetechnik who is located in Dubai in case you were wondering why you never heard of them.

Piper Motorsport’s BMW E30 M3 “Franken M3”

Welcome to the build of the «Franken M3». The car is a current project of ours which started September of 2007. The idea behind this project was to build the ultimate BMW using the best of the best from BMW’s line up. Some may argue whether or not the E30 M3 had much to improve on in the first place? Of course not! The E30 M3 is and always will be a great performer in factory trim and truly is a classic. We’ve simply started with an E30 M3 and built a whole new breed of the BMW M series.

To start we stripped the car of everything suspension, engine and drive train related then tossed it aside. Come to think of it, nothing but a few miscellaneous body panels and interior pieces have remained thus far.
